Rustic split bamboo slat fences have been used for centuries in many regions of the world where bamboo is available. It can be used on its own or attached to cover a chain link fence for added beauty and privacy. They are inexpensive and easy to install. Bamboo slats or split bamboo fences are woven together with black nylon coated wire, as opposed to other split bamboo slat fences in the market that usually tie their fences with bare metal wire exposing unsightly metal and rust. The fence is semi-opaque, which provides some privacy. The unique color of the bamboo slats makes it one of the most gorgeous and striking, looking bamboo fences on the market today. The bamboo slats we use are about 1/2" wide. They are packed in a roll for convenience in shipping and setting up. It's definitely more see-through than I would've liked, but it does the job in terms of giving you a decent amount of privacy. The quality is okay, not great...some of the reeds are broken on some ends, and some of the dark parts make it look like the wood is rotting. Lastly, for stability, you do need something to tie it to; for both apartments, ours has been against concrete slabs, so we end up leaving it at an angle and then putting something heavy against the base on both ends to keep it up. For context, the first three pictures are from the initial apartment I used it at right after we bought it; the last picture is after nearly 1.5 years and a move to a new apartment. I really like the look from afar however, the panels were not 6ft by 8, they were short 5-6 in. on the length and were cut to 5’11 in height which totally screwed up our layout. Now we have to order another roll to make up the shortage which btw are now unavailable! Each panel had poles that were not wired through and were extremely crooked.. Angela. What a wonderfully well made privacy screen. It's very heavy which makes it hard for it to topple over, although for safety's sake, please DO anchor it down. Great product but be sure you want this size in bamboo thickness. This 3/4” D is much smaller and more see through then the 1”D thick. Update: I wrote the review below before the last batch I ordered and again even though the length is stated as 8 feet long, the pieces came out to about 7 feet. Not a big deal unless you carefully measured out how much you needed and came up short. Also, on the 5ft high one seems like the twigs are bundled much less densely than on the 4ft. I can see right through it and will likely need to add some other cover for increased privacy, which I’m frankly not happy about. I love these and have ordered them multiple times. We use them to cover up our ugly chain link fences. They're easy to install, come wrapped in heavy plastic. The wood is beautiful. I have some that are going on 3 years old and still going strong, though the lovely dark brown color is fading in the sun (I live in the southwest). The wood is slowly becoming more brittle, but they seem like they still have some years left in them. One thing though, I have noticed that the actual length varies. I bought a 5 x 8 ft one to replace a shorter 4 x 8 ft once and was unpleasantly surprised to realize it was not quite 8 feet. So I had a gap left in my fence.
