It reclines to a point that you could easily fall asleep in it (and the reclining mechanism works well). My reason for 4 stars instead of 5... the stool. The stool's base is to small. As you rotate a bit in the chair and your feet move from the center of the stool, the stool becomes out of balanced and can tip.
