I had decided to get an area rug for my master bathroom instead of multiple mats. My vacuum is too powerful for small mats and the roomba gets caught up on them. A win/win was a mid-sized area rug. I needed no less than a 6x6 rug and no more than a 6'6.5 edge. After reading what seemed like hundreds of reviews on rugs, I was fairly confident that I ordering a 6x6 rug would come smaller than that. I was also looking for a rug with teals to match the room. I settled for more of ice blues, not being successful finding the teal/ oriental-type pattern I was searching for.
Finally the rug came, rolled up and when I opened it, unrolled it and put the tape measurer to the rug, my bet paid off! My 6'7"x6'7" rug measured 6'6"x6'8". This was a perfect size for the room, I should play lotto. The colors also are more teal greens than blues, also perfect! It's so hard to tell by photos. I am extremely happy with this rug for what I searched for.
To get the edges and 'bubbling'/slight 'creases' out quickly from it having been rolled up for who knows how long in its package, I used a spray bottle with water, sprayed them and walked on it first. The first night, I turned it upside down and walked the edges and creases. The next day, I used my iron on steam and with a thin, white cloth (I used a tea towel), I ironed out the bubbles and edges from the underside (counting to four then moving the iron over). I've ordered two larger rugs of a similar material from Wayfair in past years and have had success with this method previously. It took me about an hour to 'iron' the back side of the rug. Turning it over, I rubbed the fibers with a large towel to help dry it out and it dried the rest of the way with the ceiling fan on it in an hour and a half. Of course, this would be more of a task for a larger rug, but within 24 hours, I have it in my bathroom, no bubbles, creases or curled edges for a trip hazard!
The thickness isn't much higher than the binding, about 1/4" or so. The fibers are soft, but if you want it more cushiony, you would need to use a pad underneath. Since it's a 'real' area rug, it may slide as there is no rubber or slip resistance in the back surface.
It's always a gamble ordering anything online. I'm excited that I won my bet. Dye colors may be different and since many rugs are handmade or even machine made from a mideastern country, the sizes are usually not spot on. It's been raining here in Central FL, so there wasn't bright daylight to get great photos. The first photo shows the bubbles and curled edges. The second photo is a brighter, more accurate image for colors. The third image is the flattened rug in its 'home' and #4 is a close up of the teals. Good luck with your choice!. Nancy .
