The color variation (“gradient”) is less than is shown in the product photos. The shades are a linen-look, off-white. The USB port is next to the cord outlet worked fine in an overnight test. The switch is a rotary type. The shades were easy to assemble, but the metal rings are not covered like they would be in a pre-assembled shade. I absolutely LOVE these polished nickel lamps. They are on the large side but so perfect. The shades are good, a little taller vs the listing photo showing them shorterwiderstraighter.
