Appealing to the viewer from any angle, each piece is a Work of Art! Craftspeople from the Chiang Mai area in Northern Thailand create these pieces with the simplest of tools. After each Monkey Pod wood (Acacia, Koa, Rain Tree has grown for wood carving) piece is kiln dried, carved, and sanded, Livos Walnut oil creates a water-resistant and food-safe matte finish. The natural oils are translucent, so the wood grain detail is highlighted. Color ranges from medium to dark Walnut brown tones that will darken as the wood ages. There is no oily feel; and cannot bleed into carpets, as it contains natural lacs. Made from the branches of the Acacia tree - where each branch is cut and carved to order (allowing the tree to continue growing), we make minimal use of electric hand sanders in the finishing process. All products are dried in solar and or propane kilns. No chemicals are used in the process, ever. This piece is packaged in cartons from recycled cardboard with no plastic or other fillers. I can't tell you how happy I am with this table! I chose the walnut finish, the wood has so many features. I wasn't convinced that the wood grain would look as good in walnut as it does on the oak, due to the pictures offered as examples on Wayfair, but it is just so beautiful! And HEAVY, just like everyone else says. It comes with a little leaflet with cleaning instructions and disclaimers about how each piece will not match exactly. The inside of the cube is very rough hewn. I added four felt furniture pads to the corners and it glides on our hardwood floors easily. This item does not require assembly.. Heidi.
