I would have given this item 5 stars, except for some manufacture issues. Looks exactly like the item photo, really pretty and is solidheavy and came packed very well. The finish and paint job is beautiful. Aside from that, it gets zero stars. When I unwrapped it, one of the hinges had already torn off (screws ripped out) before it even came out of the box, which makes me wonder if its really wood or actually coated mdf. The back of the screen is painted with black laquer and a gold bamboo design, very nice, but the hinges are on backwards- - theyre set to display the black bamboo side. I didnt want to return this item, so I got a screwdriver and took the hinges off to flip them around, which should have taken 10 minutes. It took an hour and 5 tries because they are directional and actually trick you into putting them on backwards in several new ways. Seriously, what looks like it makes sense will be backwards again unless you do it this way. Do yourself a favor--take all the hinges off completely, lay the pieces down folded as I show in the photo, then put the hinges back on while the pieces are still folded that way. Make sure you use the hinge side facing out that has the little dip for the screw heads so they lie flat (see photo), and add dabs of wood glue over the holes before reassembling. Once the nightmare ended, the screen is great. I dont mind a little tweak, but if Im paying almost 300 for an item I expect it to arrive undamaged and as described with a minimum of nonsense. It is sturdy, lays flat against the opening but the black color on the screen wore off in some spots after the very first fire as you can see from the attached pictures. To me it doesn’t matter because this is an outdoor fireplace but it would bother me if it was indoors and I was looking at it on a daily basis. Otherwise I’m satisfied with the product.. Anonymous.
