It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. The quality of the shutter is marginal. All of the cuts to include the top side of the shutter are a very rough texture. Also to include the cut of the center circle. This concerns me that with occasional cleaningmaintenance dirt will not come off without sandingpainting. Wayfair is wonderful to work with. Customer Service understood my concerns were very caring. They got back to me within a day to resolve all my issues with the center circle shutter, by Elena Millwork. I bought the paintable shutters (which come as a light bluishgray). I did use a primer first then the color next. The shutters were easy to paint the simple design (from my previous ones I had). They did come with the plastic screws, which we never used. I’m not sure why they’re plastic Unless one is using these as an interior design, I don’t know how these would hold up on any kind of siding. We had to buy special anchors and screws since we were placing 4 of these on stone veneer and the others on our siding. I am pleased with the product and they way it gives our house a facelift..
