I ordered two of these lamps to sit on my porch on either side of a new Polywood sofa. They are exactly what I was looking for. They are incredibly well made and they are very heavy so I don't have to worry about them blowing over in a heavy wind. They have a heavy glass cover above the light bulb which I am sure will protect the lamps if they get wet. If you are looking for lamps to read by in an outdoor setting these can't be beat. I spent hours shopping for weather resistant lamps and I am very glad that I chose these. The only suggestion that I would make to the manufacturers is that the heavy weight electrical cord is black and the lamp, shade and stand are white and it would have been more visually pleasing is they had used a white electrical cord..
