There is an inner part of the pot that is not stainless steel, but that's okay, because it's layered (intumed if you will) within stainless steel, so that part never touches your food. The handle looks very sturdy and I am yet to use this product for steaming veggies .Any Stainless steel with strong base is always a relief when it comes to constant use for various steaming ,boiling and one pot cook purpose tasks.
