Please take into consideration, that this product requires more than just a couple of hours to assemble. The Garden Arbor with Bench ships in two boxes. It will be easier to keep all of the parts separated by box when opening, so that you have all the wood pieces for the arbor off to one side, then all of the pieces for the bench off to the other side. Even if you have some previous experience putting together furniture, you may still find the instructions a little vague and somewhat difficult to build. All of the wood pieces are individual. It would be very helpful for the company to ship the lattice sides assembled. You will need a drill, level and an additional person. It would also be helpful to have wood glue, nail gun, staple gun or vise. I'm happy with the overall craftsmanship and quality of the cedar wood, and design! You can leave the bench/arbor unfinished, but would look beautiful stained. I am going to use Sherwin Williams SuperDeck Semi Transparent Stain. This is truly a lovely pergola. It is just as pictured but even more stunning in person. We added our own brackets for extra stability since we live in Iowa and it can get windy. The steel planters fit nice and tight onto the back, and I used them to plant flowers, ivy, and herbs. I really love this. Package arrived on time, was packed really well (with no styrofoam, one of my pet peeves). I took a little over an hour to put together, but instructions were pretty clear. One suggestion, put each set of bolts in labeled bags so we don't have to guess which one is which. It did require a rubber mallet to complete, as the parts that slip into each other didn't line up just perfectly, but that's what my husband is for.
