I love my coop, but it did have quite a bit of additional costs associated with putting it together. The roofing added the majority of it and that was expected. I also extended the roof so they could have a covered area in their run. I'm shocked at the little tiny pre-fab coops they sell for $500. I paid around $1400 for this one and you get way more coop for your money. It would house 4-25 chickens quite comfortably. I added a storage shelf inside to store lots of chicken stuff like a broody cage, chick meds, or even a bale of hay. While my momma hen was raising her four baby chicks I partitioned off a section for her to safely brood. If you want to raise chickens right, this is the only coop you will ever need.. Sally.
