I bought this trash can for my wife because of the push down feature in the center of the lid for compacting the trash so one can get more out of a trash bag and so my wife wouldnt have to use her hands or sometimes her foot to push the trash down further. Now she doesnt have to rush to the sink to wash her hands when pushing the trash down with the compacting lid. Lovely duel chamber trash can. The lids are quiet & quick to open with the foot pedal, & they lower slowly & silently. The soft finish on the bronze exterior looks great while also being "fingerprint-free." One thing to note is that the custom fit Songmic trash bags don't fit this model as well as generic non-branded trash bags. If you want the lift handle for the removable trash can to be outside the trash bag/acessible, then using the Songmics trash bag means the lid to the trash will be left ajar. If you choose to cover the lift handle with the Songmics trash bag, then the trash can lid is left just slightly raised.
