The Kauai Rain Shower System is brilliantly simple! Designed to use your existing valve, it replaces the old showerhead with an elegant, 8-inch rain showerhead and multi-function hand shower. The integrated brass slide bar allows adjustable height control for the hand shower and brass soap dish while providing a conveniently located diverter for switching functions. The soothing rain showerhead and multi-function hand shower can be used separately or together for a multitude of spray combinations. The Kauai Shower System simply connects to the water supply at your existing showerhead location and uses your existing hot/cold shower valve. Typical install is less than 1 hour—even for the do-it-yourselfer. This Shower System does not come with a hot/cold mixing valve, please refer to the Tru-Temp valve (Model #3001-RIV-PB) if you are remodeling and need a valve.

(The only reason for a 4-star rating is due to the plastic hose and handwand. All other aspects are a strong 5-star!) The handheld shower unit came with a plastic hose, which I immediately replaced. I am sure the plastic one would have worked well, but the metal replacement looks much better and will last longer. Update on previous review: We have enjoyed this shower system for 3 months and it has been amazing! The water pressure and flow is excellent - much better than expected. The upper head has 2 settings: rain and typical spray. The rain setting is very soothing and soft. The typical spray setting provides a lot of water at great pressure. As noted above I replaced the plastic hose with stainless steel hose. That has worked well. In addition, I actually replaced the hand wand with a Moen unit and prefer it over the one that came standard. (The Moen unit has additional spray settings that the standard unit lacked) The controls on the system are excellent, allowing temperature control on one stalk and water distribution on the other. I really like the ability to set temperature independent of the "on/off" valve. I also love the surface mounted aspect of the system. Not only is it attactive, but this design will make servicing it much easier should an issue arise. Our plumbers commented on the quality of the unit and how easy it was to install. This showerhead appears to be of good quality. Besides the expected plastic pieces only 2 pieces are plastic, 1. the slide bracket on the upright pole for the handheld showerhead, and 2. the rain head. The instructions are easy to understand and the packaging is above average. I gave it 4 stars because this showerhead cannot address different distances of riser pipes in the wall to the shower system. I suggest adapters for length adjustments for the shower head extension from the riser pipe to the shower system brass fitting. This system also does not include plumbers tape for the installation. A fabulous shower. Heavy weight and lovely quality. The required rough-in kit was easy to use and the installation instructions for the shower were very clear. Love the feature where you set your desired temperature and then turn the shower on and off separately. The rain shower head has two settings and even the gentler one is more than enough water volume and pressure to get a good rinse. The handheld has three good settings and sits at the angle most normal shower heads use. The rain head is so great, I think I will mainly use the handheld for cleaning the shower.
