Well, the bed is gorgeous. It smells great, like pine. It's solid and sturdy and easy to put together. But I'm confused. I have a normal full size (52/53-ish inches) mattress and box spring. This bed is a normal full size bed frame. I put it together correctly. But I have inches of space left where you can see the slats: The box spring/mattress don't fit snugly into the frame. It doesn't look nice. I'm contemplating returning this, but I'm not sure what I can do after I've already set it up. I think my mattress might run on the small side of a "full variation," as I now understand that mattress can slightly vary by size. Sturdy exterior wood and relatively easy to put together. However, the interior of the drawers are unfinished plywood as is the back of the piece. Drawers will not hold significant weight and will sag with weight. Plywood backing make the piece look cheap. Have to place it up against a wall to hide it. Overpriced for what it is.. Diane. 4.5 StarsWe do a fair amount of online shopping, but our busy lives make it difficult to find time to write reviews. In this situation, however, I wanted to contribute.In searching for good furniture, my wife and I have found it increasingly harder to find well-made, reasonably priced pieces. We have furnished our home mostly with Raymour and Flanigan (only in the Northeast). They feature solid wood construction and the craftsmanship is usually very good. In the past few years, they - and almost everybody else - have lowered their standards. It became harder to find dovetailed joints and solid wood, unless you went to very expensive retailers. That said, we were trying to find a matching dresser for our son’s R&F loft bunk bed. We had no luck, and I had told myself that I was never going to buy unassembled, online again…So I read the reviews of this 6 Drawer Dresser and took a chance. As long as you are prepared for a few likely concerns, I think you’ll be happy. It came in two relatively easy to handle packages. It may take two to handle safely.The larger box had been re-taped somewhere along the lines and the packaging had shifted as a result. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. After unpacking there were several scratched pieces. I was prepared to touch up the scratches with the various stains we have around the house, so this was not a huge deal. If you’re looking for guaranteed, perfect condition from any online shipper, you’re not likely to find it. Be prepared to send it back, request replacement parts or do some of your own repairs, and you’ll be in the right frame of mind. The assembly should be approached with the same flexibility. If you’re handy and patient, it’s no big deal. I find enough space to lay out all parts, check them and get the right tools. I place all the hardware in separate Tupperware containers to stay organized and it makes it much easier. I could tell that the wood was a soft pine or poplar so I planned to put my own coat of marine spar varnish on it. I know this sounds like a lot of work, but it’s not. If your piece will get daily use, especially by children, it will be well worth the time.The instructions are typical – you’ll need common sense, patience and some experience. The drawers and the sliding brackets will require the most time. I pilot-drilled the screw holes on the drawers themselves because the wood is soft and you’re working with only a 5/8 profile – again, take your time and it’s not a big deal. Mounting the brackets to the dresser frame itself is difficult because the instructions are sketchy, but the pre-marked holes line up if you are carful.All said and done, it is a nice piece and the few modifications I made will likely be worth the extra time. As I noted, it is soft wood. If you have ever purchased something from Ikea, you’ll have an idea. It was my priority to put on two coats of satin, marine spar-varnish. It is now much less likely to be the victim of water rings or everyday scratches. I also used carpenter glue on the drawers where the wood slides in. It is a nice piece for the money. There are no particle-board or veneered parts, and you don’t see exposed screw-heads like you do in even more expensive furniture. One of the drawers does not slide freely and I will likely have to address that soon. But as long as you know what you’re getting into, it’s a solid piece that will last.. Bob. I'll do pros first: This dresser is made out of a really nice quality wood and the cherry color is really gorgeous especially if you can tuck it somewhere near a window where the light will hit it. Assembly was fairly simple though it was a bit time consuming - it took two people about 3 and half hours to put together completely. Also, for how nice this looks - you really can't beat the price. I also was surprised by how much I liked the knobs - a little mid century and very cute. Now, cons: Shipping was an absolute travesty. The dresser was delivered in a completely broken box and the pieces were jumbled all over the place (see photos). I had to bring it up piece by piece to my apartment because the box wasn't salvageable. It was very hastily propped up against the wall of my lobby and a lot of the pieces could have easy been broken. The box was only held together with what looked like a single layer of packing tape and had no other reinforcements. A few pieces look like they have a few nicks and small scratches as a result, but nothing too bothersome. Additionally, the dresser drawers don't pull in and out as smoothly as they could (fully aware this could be an assembly issue as it seems others have had similar problems). This doesn't really bother me, but it is a little troubling to have to jimmy the drawers a tiny bit to get them to completely open. The back of the dresser is also not solid wood which doesn't really bother me because I have it against a wall anyway, but worth knowing ahead of time. Overall, this is a really nice piece and looks great in my bedroom. I would have definitely given a higher rating if shipping had been better. I would recommend buying.. Jessica. We are totally happy with this purchase. We received the bed quickly (3 days), well packaged in two different boxes and undamaged. The bed is light weight and a woman could easily handle the bed and put it together. You could use another pair of hands (even a child) to help guide the pegs in the holes. My husband said the instructions were easy to follow. It comes with a tool and that's really all you need to connect the headboard, sides and footboard together. We used an electric drill to put the metal bracket in that holds the center support. We also used the electric drill to screw the braces down. I ordered the cherry color and it is not as red as it looks in the picture. I would say it was more of a walnut color. I love the color! To be a light weight bed it is so sturdy and does not squeak, creak or move whatsoever. The bed sits off the floor enough so that you could store something under it. My son has his guitar case under this bed. I searched a lot for a platform bed that sat off the floor. So many of them sit very low to the floor. My mattress is a 10" memory foam that does not require a box spring. I was worried that the bottom of the headboard would sit higher above the mattress and that the pillows would fall through the cracks but this headboard meets the top of the mattress. I have searched many days for a queen size platform bed and this bed has met and exceeded my expectations. It would take a while to disassemble the bed if you wanted to move it. Purchased two of these to serve as mudroom storage after custom built in and Lowe's standard cabinet options came in at 3k to 4k. We selected these over others based on the solid wood construction. I would say it is worth the additional cost, as the stain finish and veneer are convinving, not great but better than the laminate picture of wood many other options use. Soft close doors are a nice touch. We put cushions on the drawers to soften their close. It is sturdy and the tolerances were spot on, amazing feet in my opinion. Assembly of the first one took 4 hours, the scone one took 3. The trick to the doors is too slide the hinge out as far as permitted before staring door hanging, and use two people. arrived in 3 days. 2 boxes. I would agree to assemble in room where it is going to go. Directions were not hard hard to follow. I was surprised due to the size. It is time consuming due to the size. The doors went better than expected. They did need adjusted at the end. I was just very surprised how everything lined up as I started to assemble. I did 2 of these. I do recommend. The doors do take 2 people as directions say. The first one took me about 5 hours as I went slow to make sure. 2nd one I did in 3 1/2 hours. So not hard but time consuming and looks great when done. I am happy with the purchase now that we finally got it assembled, not with out a couple mishaps! Took my husband and I 5 hours to complete. Beware: the instructions to not emphasize which side goes up or in when attaching the first cross beams to the side pieces, and did not realize our mistake until it was carried upstairs and upright! Too late but then to take it apart. Pic #2 shows where I’ll have to stain the shelf edge; we’ll just have to live with the screw holes also in pic #3. Because they do not predrill the holes in the doors for the hinges it is very difficult to start your screw and align the door; even thought it was not recommended, we finally charged up the electric screwdriver after struggling far too long at this point and we’re finally successful with the hinges..
