I bought this to replace my older Salav steamer I had for many years, which the gasket eventually wore away. I figured the iron option was a nice one to be able to quickly press more stubborn areas (collars, in between buttons, hems, etc.) not have to pull out the regular iron as well. The machine does have some design flaws and is not as easy to use as my previous steam machine, nor as sturdy. Specifically, when you’re steaming an outfit, the ironing board does tend to get in the way and you cannot rotate the clothing. I found that the one hanger attachment enclosed is pretty useless if you don’t have hangers with swivel tops (unlike the slim flocked hangers). I remedied this by just attaching the one arm in the base and letting the other swivel forward to be able to have the clothing hang freely. The collar attachment is pretty sturdy, however, and handy for ironing collared shirts. Keep in mind the board is not standard size, it is very small, so unless your petite, as I am, your not going to be able to iron a “regular” sized pair of (mens) slacks properly. The height adjustment and bars are a bit flimsy and awkward to have to adjust from lowering the bars to a desired iron position, and back up to a higher steaming position, but the option to actually angle the board itself it a nice one and that is pretty easy to adjust. It heats pretty quickly, and the steamer head does rotate, which is useful. The option for iron to steam and back again works well. The placement of docking the steamer is also backwards, which I consider a major design flaw, because your dealing with hot steam, and you really have to reach around the back to make sure the steamer is sitting on the dock solidly to prevent an accident as well as engage the shut off feature. I also would have liked to have the water reserve more easy to get to, and a viewing window that you could glance at to see how much water is in the unit without disengaging from the unit. One of the main reasons I chose this machine because of the auto shut-off, but did not realize it only works in the steam function. So, if you want to make double sure you didn’t leave the iron on, you may want to plug it in to a smart strip or plug. The Overall, it serves its purpose, exchanging some annoyances and flaws for having the ease of taking out two appliances for quick touch-ups.. Kim. Port Jefferson Station, NY. 2022-08-03 13:03:58
