Turn your backyard into a mini amusement park with this kids’ roller coaster toy. The huge Step2 Extreme Coaster is designed for preschoolers but is still a hit with older children. Little ones can experience big thrills as they climb the stairs and race back down! Kids will love that they can reset the ride by themselves, practicing balance and developing gross motor skills while getting plenty of exercise outside! Built to last with durable construction, this toddler ride-on toy features unmatched strength and is easy to clean. Made in the USA of US and imported parts.

Our 4 year old son has enjoyed the smaller versions of the Step2 coasters, but he's at the 50 pound weight limit for those. This Extreme coaster has a 75 pound weight limit that should get him through a couple more years.
The coaster came in 3 huge boxes, but was fairly easy for us to assemble in about 30 minutes using a screwdriver, hammer, and utility razor. (We had to clean up a few places where the plastic wasn't smooth from the molding process.) The car unit had several stickers that needed placement, and that took another 5 minutes. If we need to transport it one day, the slide can be taken apart to break this into 3 pieces, and can be reassembled in about 5 minutes again.
The toy is very large once it's assembled; I am a small female adult, but am still able to drag the piece around the backyard easily. The top of the coaster is about 40" high (mid-chest on me,) and while I was intimidated by the height, my son was more than delighted by the toy. My son can push the car up the ramp with no effort due to the steps inside the wheel guides, to reset the car after each go. The car is a bright yellow for visibility, has slots for you to attach your own seatbelt, and has molded footrests. (I do wish they had molded handles on the car top, also.) My son pushes himself off the top deck of the coaster. Even riding over 4" tall grass, he was achieving distances between 25-45 feet!
Safety Note: Please have your child wear a helmet when using this toy. There are only small wheel guides to keep the toy on the ramp. Serious injury could occur from a fall. Make sure the ramp is not aimed in the direction of hazards such as driveways, roads, or water.
Our experience with Step2 products has proven them to be durable and easy to maintain, and we expect this to be no different. Research prices and discounts, because prices varied widely. (Retailers would change their prices daily over the week I was monitoring the item!) I wouldn't pay the MSRP for this toy, but consider the toy a good value with the a 30% discount and free shipping I got.. Resident. Westport, CT. 2015-05-07 14:20:56
