The joint between the stainless and the handle is smooth and they went through the dishwasher fine. I bought them to use as appetizer serving utensils because of their interesting looks. The "scale" of size from one piece to the next is a little "off". Also - the proportions don't match the photos. Soup/large spoon is more like a serving spoon (or pasta spoon).
