Well, the bed is gorgeous. It smells great, like pine. It's solid and sturdy and easy to put together. But I'm confused. I have a normal full size (52/53-ish inches) mattress and box spring. This bed is a normal full size bed frame. I put it together correctly. But I have inches of space left where you can see the slats: The box spring/mattress don't fit snugly into the frame. It doesn't look nice. I'm contemplating returning this, but I'm not sure what I can do after I've already set it up. I think my mattress might run on the small side of a "full variation," as I now understand that mattress can slightly vary by size. We like the look of our new bed, but aren't sure it was worth the hassle. I was looking for a grey wooden headboard and ordered this bed because I got an email saying it was no longer out of stock before I found anything else I liked. The confirmation email said it would be delivered in a few days. One week after placing the order, I got an email saying it would be another 2 months before it would be delivered (so basically it still wasn't back in stock). By the time it finally made its way to San Francisco (shipped from Brazil through Virginia, according to the packing slip), one of the boxes was smashed on one side, which caused the metal clips that connect the side rails to the headboard to be bent, and made for a major pain when putting the bed together and required several other tools to try and straighten the metal before digging into the wood with a razor blade to make it work. We also found that we had to reinforce the tiny wooden slats running from left to right underneath the mattress because that part is made of cheap wood. The color of the wood is slightly less grey than pictured in the website's photo and actually has a slight hint of blue to the grey. I absolutely love this bedroom set! It’s sturdy, solid (yes, pine…I know, lol!) wood and there is no noise when hubby and I toss and turn or get upin bed! We did add extra slats because we used a 14.5” mattress with no box spring. I think there were only 5 or 7 slats and we added a few more along with the extra center supports. I was able to assemble quite a bit of the bed myself until I got to the headboard and slats. One slat had two pilot holes vs one center hole to attach a center support so hubby took care of that. (I wanted to make sure that I didn’t crack it by adding a hole.) I ordered this as a 4-pc set consisting of (king) bed, two nightstands and a dresser, which saved a few hundred bucks vs ordering a la carte. You might be able to find it as “Montauk 3 bed” or something similar as the 4-pc is no longer showing. The dresser and nightstands are sturdy and the drawers glide perfectly. A word on ordering Driftwood color it is more yellow-orange as many reviewers mentioned. Although I was hoping for it to be more brown, it’s growing on my hubby and I, plus I thought the gray might be too much with my flooring as I wanted to keep the furniture lighter in color. This was for our lakehouse and I didn’t want white since that will be our daughter’s furniture color and our walls are BM White Dove. We are totally happy with this purchase. We received the bed quickly (3 days), well packaged in two different boxes and undamaged. The bed is light weight and a woman could easily handle the bed and put it together. You could use another pair of hands (even a child) to help guide the pegs in the holes. My husband said the instructions were easy to follow. It comes with a tool and that's really all you need to connect the headboard, sides and footboard together. We used an electric drill to put the metal bracket in that holds the center support. We also used the electric drill to screw the braces down. I ordered the cherry color and it is not as red as it looks in the picture. I would say it was more of a walnut color. I love the color! To be a light weight bed it is so sturdy and does not squeak, creak or move whatsoever. The bed sits off the floor enough so that you could store something under it. My son has his guitar case under this bed. I searched a lot for a platform bed that sat off the floor. So many of them sit very low to the floor. My mattress is a 10" memory foam that does not require a box spring. I was worried that the bottom of the headboard would sit higher above the mattress and that the pillows would fall through the cracks but this headboard meets the top of the mattress. I have searched many days for a queen size platform bed and this bed has met and exceeded my expectations. It would take a while to disassemble the bed if you wanted to move it. This bed is in my teenage son's room and it looks great! Wayfair was so easy to order from and the customer service is wonderful! Everyone is always so very helpful!. Cindy. Sturdy exterior wood and relatively easy to put together. However, the interior of the drawers are unfinished plywood as is the back of the piece.
