Hawthorne quilt just arrived today. I also ordered another Eddie Bauer quilt set, the Bridghaven, but didn't like the colors so I am sending it back and getting another one like this. They are for 9 and 10 year old boys. I thought I would attach photos so you can see the colors close up. I like the quilt. It is light weight, not heavy. Good for summer. Of course, for the price, it's a printed quilt design, not individually sewn squares, but I knew that already. The colors are somewhat muted, kind of a stone wash look. Love that kind of ticking look it has on the reverse side. I did notice on the section with the burgundy stripes, the ink is kind of bleeding in spots. Everywhere that particular burgundy striped patch is on the quilt, it looks like that. But with the overall blend of colors, you don't really notice it all that much. I am giving it four stars for now as I think it's a tad pricey for what it really is, but it's much better than the "quilts" that Walmart had. Will update this review after wash and wear and see how stiching holds up. I measured the "patches" and they are various sizes andwhere from 15-1/2" x 8", 10" x 8" and 8"x 8".. Patrick. Inspired by pure thickness. Maybe we've lost our minds here at coma inducer or maybe we've always had a couple of screws loose??? But we've become obsessed with thick. Seriously though, who likes a weak comforter? Does anyone enjoy getting a comforter vacuum smushed in a box that looks like a flat sheet and comes with instructions to shake it out and wait 4 days? And, after those 4 days are up, it's still so thin you wonder if you were sent a flat sheet. The thought of such a comforter makes us sick! With the number of hours, we sleep (or should sleep) each night, it should be a crime to have a flat sheet-like comforter.
