The color was darker than I expected, but it's a beautiful rich dark brown, so I'm very happy with it. It's very distressed, with nail holes throughout on the table top. I love that the leaf lives as part of the table and doesn't have to be stored separately. The only thing I'd change about this table, is that each piece of wood used would be individually stained, as there are some tiny areas where there is separation in the wood slats, and if you look carefully you can see the original color of the wood in those spaces. Beautiful, solid, well built table! The wood color perfectly matches the original wood work of our house. The reclaimed wood is smooth, but adds a rustic charm. Butterfly leaf folds out nicely. When extended it will comfortably seat 8 (I purchased the large size table). The only downfall was the photos shown on the listing, they are horrible.
