The wood is very nice solid wood, except the draws and small supporting parts. So it still smells a little upon arrival. One of the drawer arrived with the face board not attached to the drawer so I had to find different nails to fix it. The draw liner is on the cheaper end, and that made it looks cheaper. The desk is beautiful. The wood is not as white as pictured, it has more of the yellow hue. Not a deal breaker, just something to take note of. The drawers and under mirror compartment do have a smell to them, need to air them out for a day or two. Again not a deal breaker. The only con is that the desk height is low relative to the height of the vanity mirror. You will need to use a very low profile stool to see your full face in the vanity mirror or lean the mirror back quite far, which isnt ideal because you cannot push the vanity against the wall then. For reference I am 53, and my face gets cut off at the eyebrows when I sit on a stool thats 17.5 tall.
