This fan works! I live in a small open style townhouse. My kitchen is essentially open to my living space so it is important to me that I can keep the odors under control - as in sucking them out of the room (vented outside)! Or it has saved me during those times I "over broil" something and the smoke pours out of the oven when I open the door. I quickly turn this fan on to HIGH and it keeps the smoke from triggering the smoke alarm! Perfect! PROS: multiple speeds (4 or 5) that are impressive, 2 lights, grills to catch grease and can be cleaned in dishwasher, great price for the higher CFM - I did a lot of shopping! Relatively low depth (7") so you don't hit your head - but I confess I am only 5' 2"! Nonetheless I needed a fan that wasn't very deep to fit under my existing cabinet. CONS: yes it will be noisy if you use above the lowest speed but hey, how else will you suck out the odors?, an electronic touch screen that isn't very sensitive when lowering the fan speed, not intuitive to setting the clock - I have to read the manual to reset the clock if the power goes out, there is a feature to set the fan to automatically turn off after 15 minutes but I would have to read the manual to use it so I don't. I am very pleased with this range hood! I find it to be a nice looking and sturdy hood for the price. I have had it for 4 months and, so far, no complaints. It was mostly straightforward to put up with the mounting brackets. However, the "clips" that temporarily hold up the hood until you get the first screws in did not work well for me. I had to use my "3rd Hand" cabinet poles to finally hold up the hood until I got the first screws on (please ignore my hand in that particular picture.); I did this by myself, but a second person would have helped a lot to hold the hood in place. Also, my electrical wire came out the side wall and not through the top cabinet. To fit the hood flush against the wall, I threaded the wire through "spare" holes on the side + top of the hood to the rest on top of the hood in that little space under the top cabinet. I wrapped the wire with electrical tape 1st because the hood's spare holes were sharp-edged. Finally, some reviews said this hood's fan is noisy + loud. The fan is loud but does not bother me at all. It looks great over the stove, yet the installation was a doozy! This hood has a plug and the old one was hard-wired in 2008 in a house that was built in 1959. The electrician had to become a carpenter and install a plug in the upper cabinet to plug it in.
