I still haven't figured out how it's self watering and the instructions don't explain it but the item looks great! It has 2 compartments. It has drain holes and some other things (in picture) that look to flow water, but still not sure what they do. I will be filling it soon and will write back on how it works. I bought the paintable shutters (which come as a light bluishgray). I did use a primer first then the color next. The shutters were easy to paint the simple design (from my previous ones I had). They did come with the plastic screws, which we never used. I’m not sure why they’re plastic Unless one is using these as an interior design, I don’t know how these would hold up on any kind of siding. We had to buy special anchors and screws since we were placing 4 of these on stone veneer and the others on our siding. I am pleased with the product and they way it gives our house a facelift.. Amazing! This fence is so beautiful in real life! Although not needed, I decided to protect mine by sealing/staining it with a transparent stainer (see pics) after speaking with the Enclo's customer service. The customer service was VERY helpful and guided me for staining advice. This fence is not only beautiful, but also very sturdy and solid. It really was just what I needed and at a great price.
