I’m very happy with this purchase and would do it again. I like the size, the double doors (huge benefit over one large door), it’s VERY quiet, it fits perfectly where we built it into our pantry, and it’s simple. Basically it does the job. Two issues I wish I had known prior, but I probably would’ve still bought this unit anyway because of the features, style and price.
The bottle count they boast is not possible. In the manual it says 287 bottle, 17 per shelf times 17 shelves. However, and this has nothing to do with bottle size, but it’s a physical impossibility to get 17 bottles per shelf. Their manual is wrong. The bottom shelf is different, and it will hold 17, but the other 16 shelves will only hold 15 based on the way the shelf slats are. It will only allow 8 wide in the front and 7 wide in the back, maximum. So maximum actual capacity is 32 bottles less than their claim, or 257. And that’s if the bottles are all a traditional size. Thicker bottles, longer necks & different shape bottles, require in some situations to skip a space to keep it from getting crooked. So, depending on your bottles the volume may be less than 15 per shelf. That’s still a lot of wine, and for the price compared to other units, it’s no biggie for me. Just letting you know in case that’s a big deal for you. Previously I had a 28 bottle under counter unit, so this is way better!
The 2nd issue is that it would’ve been nice if the shelves were full extension. Maybe with the weight of the shelves loaded down they decided to minimize the risk of roller failure and they only roll out maybe a bit more than half way. You only see the necks of the bottles in the back row, so you need to remove a bottle in the front to pull the bottle forward to see it. This was a disappointment. Half of our shelves are full of a different case of wine so the ones in the back are the same as the ones in the front, not an issue. For the other half it would be nice to see what’s back there without juggling bottles. Since I’m very handy, I figure that if it does start to bother me I can always replace the drawer rollers with a full extension type, either for all or just a few The cost of that change will be cheaper than the price to get a unit that comes with full extension slides. Shouldn’t HAVE to do that, but willing to do that because I like it for so many other reasons.
Hopefully this helps you in you decision whether or not to buy this unit.. Troy. Roswell, GA. 2021-01-30 13:26:13
