The chair's appearance is as it looks in the photo...very attractive. It arrived in good condition. However it took an entire afternoon to assemble it, including two trips to the hardware store because the package was missing two small items (screws) to attach the legs to the chair and ottoman. in addition, the factory underside assembly quality was quite poor. the holes on the base of the chair did not line up with the holes for the leg screws, so we had to make new holes. what should have been an easy assembly of only eight legs to the bodies, became an extremely frustrating experience. it was a gift for my husband, and since he was the one who assembled it, it made the gift more of an aggravation that day :-( in addition, the seat of the chair is rather unyielding, so be prepared for sitting on a very, very firm seat. had i been able to sit on it prior to ordering it, i would not have purchased it. on the positive side, my husband has gotten used to the firmness and it does look lovely in our living room..
