For water conservation in your community, we recommend you use our rain barrels to help conserve our natural resources. Our 52 to 60-gallon rain barrels are made of recycled watertight wine barrels. At the rain collection area, a screened opening minimizes insect entry into the barrel while filtering debris from incoming water. An overflow socket, located at the top/back of the barrel, designates the direction of excess water to flow. It can be connected to a hose to divert overflow to a garden or distant runoff area. All colors shown in the pictures vary since each piece is created from used wine barrels and each one we get is different. Or I suppose it could be for overflow There was no diagram of the rain barrel explaining all the nuances. This barrel features a uniquely designed recessed overflow channel on the top to prevent splashing and divert excess rain while the screened inlet keeps out debris. I really like this rain barrel. The green color is more muted than in the picture. It’s more of a gray-green than olive green. I have two of these - the first is connected to the gutter downspout and the overflow tube on that one is connected to the second barrel. The first barrel is elevated above the second. This was a good price. Barrel has a very light finish so as to allow some breathing but keep from staining. Very nice barrel, I cleaned mine out and filled it with water. It didn’t leak at all.
