I've been using just a regular serrated knife on loaves of artisan bread and the results were terrible. With this knife I get beautifully even, clean slices. The knives are great and sharp, the block is solid and gorgeous, though pretty large. One of our knives has a different logo on it than the rest and one of them doesnt rest in its slot properly so it falls a bit unless you specifically adjust it (see photos). Scary sharp but nice, heavy and well constructed as expected from Henckels - but the point is very pointy and sharp - so pay attention to what you are getting if I was doing it over I would get a slightly smaller one andor less of a point - as I use it for cutting vegetables the most ..
