Had high hopes for this murphy bed. Professional assembly wasn't an option at checkout, so I hired someone from a third party, very reputable and over 2,000 5 star reviews website. After 3 hours into the assembly they noticed a completely stripped screw on the piston assembly for one side. Manufacturer defect. They got the bed together as much as they could. Obviously not being able to secure one of the pistons with a lug nut is a safety issue. I contacted Wayfair customer service with the concerns, documented the issue. Less than helpful customer service. When I told them I didn't have the assembly guide on me they didn't offer to look up the part number to replace the replacement part number. When I asked for compensation to pay someone to come back out to finish the job they told me they couldn't offer anything. I have a hard time seeing how it should cost me $400 in sunk cost to pay someone to assemble the murphy bed, only to find out they couldn't complete the job. Then I have to pay someone to come back out, partially disassemble and then reassemble another estimated $200 due to a manufacturer defective part. I offered having Wayfair send out one of their own assembly pros to disassemble and reassemble the bed, at no charge to me, I was also told they "couldn't do that." I am not looking to make money, just pay what I should have paid all along. Not 1.5-2x due to a manufacturer issue. Not the Wayfair experience I remember from the past or brand I'd expect.. Andrea. It works exactly how we expected it to. It does take quite a bit of time to set up. It has a lot of moving parts. However, it works very well stores into it extremely small space and the mattress is pretty comfortable. We bought a mattress topper for it and it will be perfect for our spare bedroom. The design is pretty cool. It’s only about 4 feet tall so it does look like a dresser in my studio. Having the charging station is pretty great, I wish that it had power on both sides, and I also wish that the plug was longer and flat because it forces me to push the unit away from the wall, which is not ideal on the small space but it does work and we ran and extension cord to make sure it can all work. Overall, for the sale price, this is an excellent piece and we hope to get a lot of use out of it! One last thing, like most inexpensive furniture, it’s not going to move houses well. We are very satisfied with the Farmhouse Murphy Bed. The actual product is well represented online, including the color. It took my husband about 12 hours to assemble by himself. It would go a bit faster with a second person. There were a lot of pieces and he did follow the instructions which were well written. The only reason 4 vs 5 stars due to the following: assembly time (it still would take a while for 2 people to assemble) and the cabinet would look better with screw caps giving it a finished look. No one has slept on it yet, but assume it will be fairly comfortable for guests. We would have gone with a thicker mattress but followed the guidelines to make sure the cabinet would close. The slats seem to support the mattress. We hope the mattress does not slide around too much once someone tries to sleep on it. The bed does have to be weighted down to keep it from rising off the floor if no one is on the bed. See photos showing foot of bed not weighted down and weighted down with ankle weights. We plan to place a side table to offer a night stand. The small shelf looks a bit flimsy, so we will be cautious. I am not very tall and was able to open and close with ease. It looks great. But price is so high. Make sure you have brick wall in your house because it is very heavy also no instructions for drywall.
