I can see how this might work great for people, but it's very fine, and for cheddar cheese at least, the cheese could not be dumped out, it stuck together. Removing the grater from the "bowl" was very difficult for me, so washing it is going to be a pain. Maybe for a dryer cheese this will be fantastic.

My favorite cheese grater ever! Bought one in Italy years ago, lost it in a move, found it days before this one arrived. It's so well designed for form and function. I set it out on a plate with the block of cheese next to it so everyone at the table can grate their own fresh Parmesan or Romano. Or you can grate before the meal (if you don't want everyone touching your cheese) then everyone can shake from the container. It's comfortable, convenient, easy to clean and it's sooooooo cute, just like all the other Alessi products.

My father had bought one of these cheese grater about twenty years ago in an airport in Italy. It went missing from his kitchen about two weeks ago. He was very disappointed and upset that it was gone. I went on Google and after looking through dozens of stores and hundreds of cheese graters I found it on Perigold. I was excited to see it. Although it isn’t the same color ( his was see through brown), it is still see through. I had it shipped and this the pic he sent me last night with a big THANK YOU. I can’t wait for dinner next Sunday.

Love it, buta a little tough to remove the top, grated piece. Maybe it will get easier over time.

Grater very handy and compact for shredding cheese, lemon rinds

This is very cute compact and easy to clean. A very clever idea and it looks great to leave out when I have guests. Very small grates though, you have to work pretty hard to get a fair amount of Parmesan cheese out. Took an insanely long time to have this item in stock. Pros: Eye popping color, compact easy to clean Cons: pretty small, not good if you want a lot of cheese fast
