When I first saw this game I thought it might be too easy or babyish for my 6 and 7 year old. They are in 1st and 2nd grade and way past adding to 10. They both though got really into this game and enjoyed it. The game is so simple and yes its a math game, but its also a fun and fast game. To play you just have to flip over cards until you see numbers that add up to 10 - they you collect those cards as your points. No reading is required, just math of adding to 10. It is good practice for kids just learning or just a great way to exercise your brain! My 7 year old didn't want to stop playing and was slowly getting faster and faster at recognizing the sum of 10. You can also change up the game too for example to find the sum of another number or even come up with other rules for multiplication/division and so forth. The pieces are sturdy cardboard and the box is sturdy as well, perfect for storage. I received this product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Free sample provided for a blog review I am always raving about how great the items are from Learning Resources. The reason I like their products so much is because they offer a great selection of learning materials that really do make learning fun. They offer materials for a variety of different subjects, but also for different levels. I have found that their products are fun, and they are also made well. They offer products that you can use at home to make learning exciting, but they also offer materials that are great to be used in the classroom. I received Learning Resources I Sea 10! - Math Game. This is a new game that they are offering this year. This is a game geared towards children 6 years and up. This is a fun math game that helps your child work on basic addition skills. The game comes with 100 numbered cards. These cards are then spread out to play the game. The object of the game is to add the numbers on the card together and get the sum of 10. My daughter really enjoyed doing this. You can also make it more challenging for older students, and have them try and get the sum of 20. This game is packaged in a really cute box, and it makes for really easy storage.

If you are a fan of teaching math through play and activities, this is right up your alley! The object of the game is to be the one who finds the most number combinations that add up to 10. To begin, you dump out all the sturdy, circular number cards on the table (or floor in our case) then make sure the numbers are facing down. My daughter (5) loved the cheerful sea creatures on the back side of the cards. Colorful animals = win. Players take turns flipping the cards to reveal the numbers. The first person who calls out "I see 10!" and is able to prove it (ex. 5 + 5 = 10) gets to put those cards in his or her pile. Watch out for the cards with sharks instead of numbers - if you get one of those you have to put all your cards back in the pile! (You can also use 3 or more cards to add up to 10.) My daughter used the abacus to add numbers up quickly - I recommend getting one. :) I'm really happy with the educational value of this game - it's simple but very effective in getting kids to think logically about numbers and addition. And the cool thing is you can use the number cards any way you want! You can make the object of the game to add up to 20, have kids flip over two cards and tell you what they would add up to, or teach number sequencing to your preschooler. The possibilities are endless. :) This is a terrific addition to our hands-on math games and activities! I can't think of any cons. *Note that I did receive this product for review.
