My background is that of using semi-automatic espresso machines, roasting and of course, grinding my own beans. It's an enjoyable process that, yes, produces better coffee that this machine does (most of the time). But man, to be able to walk up to the machine, push the button and have pretty darn decent coffee drinks of any kind? Pretty awesome. There's a lot to like about this machine, once you get past the price. I mean, I can put together a really high-end semi-auto setup for this price. Ok, enough about that, I knew what I was getting and how much it cost. The bean hopper is relatively air-tight and I haven't noticed an issue with beans going stale (of course I'm going through about a pound a week). There are lots of options for each drink: temp, strength, volume... Nice. I like this machine a lot. It makes good quality espresso and does a good job with milk drinks as well. I use it all day long. That said, it isn't without it's annoyances. - The HomeConnect is okay for downloading drink "recipes," but other than that, it's USELESS. This is the most annoying "feature." One would think that with a connected coffee machine, you could get it to turn on and wake you up with a delicious, fresh coffee? NOPE. When it starts up it insists on doing a rinse... which puts water in your cup, if you were to have one positioned. Well, I think, I'll just leave it on? NOPE. It times out at a maximum of 8 hours. So if you want coffee when you wake up (or when you unlock your door coming home), make sure you're only getting 7:55 minutes of sleep and turning on the machine is the last thing you did before you got in bed. What's the point? - It won't integrate with your existing smart home. They say you can use IFTTT but I haven't tried it because... what's the point? - While the HomeConnect does let you download coffee recipes, you can't add these individual recipes to your "Favorites." The consequence of this is that you can only select a single custom coffee from the panel. Favorites could have been much better. - The control disk on the interface sometimes spins easily, sometimes not. - It doesn't know when the milk container is empty so if you're making a series of milk drinks and don't notice, it'll spew large quantities of steam instead of warning you. - I'm currently in "needs cleaning" mode while I wait for cleaning tablets to arrive. This coffee grinder is great. It works really great to grind coffee for espresso, French press, or just regular brewed coffee. The grind is consistent and it has settings for different preferences. I love that I can choose the number of cups and grind type. I end up with less waste (no stale coffee for me!!). Initially I read some people complain about the noise but it really isnt bad. It also works pretty quickly so Im not bothered by the sound. I also saw where people complained that the grinds go everywhere when its grinding, you just need to make sure that the cup is pushed in properly (as far as it will fit). I only had one issue with grinds making a mess. The only thing that I think could use some work (design wise) is the transfer from the container to your coffee brewing receptacle. Maybe a pour spout or funnel type piece In any case, the transfer isnt a huge deal and you could easily use a separate funnelor even a scoop to transfer the coffee without making a mess. This is my very first Burr grinder. After reading many reviews from different sites, I selected the Capresso Infinity Plus. I did my homework, read the manual very carefully, highlighted important info and researched correct ways to clean the grinder (U-tube videos were very helpful). Then feeling comfortable, used the grinder. I was very pleased and happy with the Capresso grinder. It's quiet, easy to assemble and use with satisfying results. Granted, it does takes more effort to clean the grinder over a simple blade grinder (which I've had for many years) but I do not mind that. I feel this is the perfect coffee grinder for my needs and am enjoying a better tasting cup of coffee. The manual strongly advises never to grind "in advance". My husband and I tried a "coffee tasting" in which we tasted a freshly ground cup of coffee over a batch of previously ground coffee sealed in an air tight container and we could not taste the difference. So, I decided to grind about a 5 day batch at a time and we have been completely satisfied. The only reason I have given a 4 star rating was due to my accidently dropping the removeable upper burr soft collar down (instead of up) into the bean grinder. Once that happens, there is no way to retrieve it. The manual states (pg 6) to "Make sure the soft plastic collar of the upper burr is in place." It does not explain that you are SOL if it is dropped in backwards. Although I was being very careful, I still made the mistake because for one split second I was distracted. When I called and spoke with a very pleasant, professional and helpful Wayfair representative (Jamie), I completely owned up to my mistake even though I was not aware of the finality of that simple mistake. She quickly ordered me another grinder and it will soon be delivered. I call that excellent service and I will continue to order from Wayfair. Otherwise, I would give this grinder a 5 star rating. Now that I know, I will be extra careful to reinsert the upper burr with the soft plastic collar in the UP position.
