We purchased this in Dune Distressed for our fireplace makeover. We tore out our formal molding and tile and did an all stone fireplace. It shipped very quickly and we really like it. I agree with other reviews that the distressing is a bit too "perfectly placed" but once it's up you don't really notice. It has a bit of a grayish undertone but is mostly light-med brown. You can see more of the gray in person than you can in pics. You can choose to use one, two or all three pieces which is really nice. (Don't punch out the holes unless you're sure you want to use all of the pieces!) It was easy to hang. It's hollowed out so it's also light weight. (That also enabled us to put an outlet in the top.) This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket. Corbels will increase the total height of the beam to 13". The corbels have been pre-drilled and include screws. You will need to attach the corbels to the beam upon receipt. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

I’m very impressed with how this turned out. It was a lot of pieces to put together but looks great in the end. I got the blue color and love how it looks. The color changing options on the fireplace are fun to play around with. I’m a little disappointed in the heat feature. Thought it would heat up my living room better than it does. I also read some complaints about a smell. I do notice a slight smell to it but I think it’s just because it is new. It’s also very mild and doesn’t bother me at all.
