It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. Amazing! This fence is so beautiful in real life! Although not needed, I decided to protect mine by sealing/staining it with a transparent stainer (see pics) after speaking with the Enclo's customer service. Extremely well built. Very good quality. Nice heavy duty plastic windows and screens all around. Directions could have been clearer, but we figured it out. Setup was not easy, but worth it. It is tall, roomy, breezy inside. It is absolutely just what we wanted without spending thousands more on a wood-frame custom gazebo. The screen does the job it was ordered for - hide the trashcan. Would certainly work for blocking a street view for an air conditioner. I ordered the white vinyl since it would be easier to hose off any mud splatter that the natural wood. Easy to put together, took only 20 minutes. When the box arrived we weren't sure about assembly since every slat is a separate piece - see pictures. A rubber mallet was used to get the stakes into the ground. Once in it is very secure.. For those of you who are really handy..this is a doddle. But when I opened the packet the phrase ' YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME' came to mind!!. The number of pieces for two fences was daunting to say the least. Especially as I don't have a 'cordless electric drill' as suggested on the instructions and this come sixth about 30 screws. AND as I had missed the bit that said 'self assembly'!! Once I'd stopped panicking and sorted all the pieces into the different sections, it was actually very easy to assemble. NOTE: make sure you pick the correct bottom, middle and top horizontal sections as only ONE has open slats on both sides for the slats to run through. Secondly, when fitting the individual vertical slats into the top horizontal stake, lay the whole thing down on the floor - flat and gently pull the slats from one side to the other to attach the top slate. DON'T try doing it with the fence standing up as you will be there until next year. 3rd point, there are NO top screw holes to attach the joining part to keep TWO fences together. You will need to drill that yourself. And lastly, ...forget about the bit in the instructions that suggests you 'shine an LED torch or iPhone torch down the vertical fence posts to match up the screw holes.. just lay the fence flat on the ground and tap the horizontal slat with the handle of your screwdriver until you see the adjoining screw hole you need. Did both fences in about 40 minutes. You'll also need a mallet to hit the fence into the ground. And then a congratulatory glass of wine.....of course.. Virginia. Southport, CT. 2021-02-23 06:48:52
