Not as tall was what we are used too but it works great. If you have shorter children it would be great for them. Recycle blue bin comes out. Other side is stationary. I was trying to find a smaller trash can to use next to our kitchen trash can for recycling. This one was narrow enough and not too long. It matches our existing trash can perfectly. I like that it is a slow close lid. My son kept playing with it the first day we started using it. It is working great for getting my family to recycle instead of leaving empty cans, yogurt cups, milk jugs, etc on the kitchen counter (yes, if you break down a 1 gallon milk jug, it will fit inside this trash can, along with other cans, etc). There is an inner insert to lift out. This makes emptying into our larger, outdoor recycle bin easier (which means less of a fight from the kids!)
